Screenings

Crypto-Candida made its world premier on July 1, 2006, at sunset, deep in the wood of Vermont, as part of the Firefly festival.

That morning, despite months of planning by the New England underground's best and brightest, it looked like the festival might be on the verge of shutting down. It had rained almost continuously since we arrived, a huge storm was predicted (accurately) for that night, and the roads into our deep-woods village had turned to mud. We had to turn away newcomers, and almost no one managed to get all the gear they needed for their art projects up to the site. Despite all this, the legendary Spank My Glitch Up crew managed to create exactly what they'd promised, a night-club in the woods complete with DJ's, sound system, video projection, lasers, a big campfire, and an ingenious network of tarps providing enough rain protection for 40-50 people. There the rain paused, the sun set, and Crypto-Candida premiered on schedule. It was an intense experience-- our audience, who braved mud and rain to be there, loved the movie, and we loved them.

"I saw your movie at Firefly and I want to congratulate you on completing something that is very thought-provoking, clever, and impressive for an independent movie. I would love to see Crypto-Candida again, because a lot of the themes really struck a chord with me. I thought this film was fantastic, rife with wisdom, and I very much admired the interwoven stories and the overall writing." -- Sarah

"I saw the world premiere of Crypto-Candida at the deep-woods Firefly event on July 1. It was the ideal setting for the screening, and a great time-- you kind of had to be there. I'm definitely looking fwd to seeing it again closer to home." -- Kris

Since then, Crypto-Candida has continued screening in unique and welcoming environments, such as living rooms and artists’ lofts. The best way to watch it, we’ve found, is with friends, on a video projector, with nice speakers for our kick-ass sound-track.
